The aim of theis page is to excite and inspire you, and to give you ideas.
All of the places of worship described below have one thing in common. The buildings in which they are housed have created challenges for the people who use them and care for them. The challenges have been of many different kinds – problems of maintenance, modernisation, sustainability, regeneration, respecting heritage and finding finance, among others. Some of the buildings described below are urban, others rural. They come from all over Britain. Some of them are not much more than 100 years old, others have their roots many centuries ago.
Meeting these challenges has required imagination, courage and faith. Different groups have found different solutions to the problems they faced. Some have been large and expensive to implement, others small but effective. All of them have been successful in their different ways. Please enjoy reading about them!
